Affiliate Programme Terms

Last updated: 13 September 2026

These Affiliate Programme Terms govern referrals to SiliconKiwi by BTIT, operated by BTIT Consulting Limited (NZBN 9429051041213), Wellington, New Zealand ("SiliconKiwi", "we", "us"). "You" means the individual or organisation approved to participate as an affiliate.

Participation starts only when we approve your application and confirm that your affiliate account and referral link are active. Publication of these terms does not itself activate an account. To apply or ask a question, contact support@siliconkiwi.nz.

1. Programme at a glance

ItemStandard terms
Commission10% of eligible revenue received for referred standard VPS and KiwiApps subscriptions, including qualifying renewals.
Referral window60 days from the last eligible affiliate click to the customer's first qualifying order.
Validation hold45 days after each customer payment clears.
Payment thresholdNZ$25 in validated, unpaid commission.
PayoutsMonthly, by bank transfer or account credit at your election, subject to the process below.

A different commission arrangement applies only if expressly agreed with you in writing before the relevant referral. It overrides only the specific terms it changes.

2. Eligibility and acceptance

You must be at least 18, legally able to enter this agreement and, if applying for an organisation, authorised to act for it. Provide accurate identity, contact, promotional-channel, tax and payment information and keep it current. We may reasonably request verification and approve or decline applications based on programme suitability, compliance and fraud risk. Joining is free and does not require a hosting purchase. You accept these terms when you enrol and use your activated referral link.

3. Eligible referrals and attribution

A qualifying referral is a genuinely new SiliconKiwi customer who follows your approved referral link and places their first eligible order within 60 days. Where more than one affiliate refers that customer, the last valid affiliate click before that order receives attribution. One order cannot earn commission for multiple affiliates. Renewals of subscriptions on that attributed order remain associated with you; unrelated later purchases are not automatically eligible.

Use only links or codes we issue or expressly approve. A coupon alone does not establish attribution unless we confirm that it is configured for your account. Cookies, browser settings, consent choices, device changes and interrupted checkout can affect tracking. Do not bypass privacy choices or use unauthorised tracking. We will investigate missing referrals in good faith using available referral and order evidence; tracking records are evidence, not an unchallengeable decision. Report discrepancies promptly, preferably within 60 days of the relevant statement. We cannot guarantee attribution where reliable evidence is unavailable.

4. Commission calculation

The standard rate is 10% of eligible subscription revenue actually received after discounts, excluding GST and other sales taxes, setup fees, refunds, chargebacks, promotional or goodwill credits, and amounts not paid. Redeeming account credit funded by an actual customer payment does not by itself disqualify eligible revenue; the same payment is counted only once. Payment-processing fees are not deducted from the commission base.

Standard VPS and KiwiApps base subscriptions are eligible. S3 storage, cloud backup, dedicated or pooled resources, custom quotes, professional or managed-service labour, domains, third-party licences, add-ons and usage or overage charges are excluded unless included in your written commission arrangement. For an eligible subscription paid annually or for another longer period, commission is calculated on the eligible payment received rather than an assumed monthly amount.

Qualifying renewals earn commission while the referred subscription remains active and paid and your participation remains in effect. There is no guaranteed minimum earning and this is not an unconditional lifetime commission promise. Changes and termination are governed by sections 10 and 11.

5. Validation, refunds and corrections

Commission is pending for 45 days after each payment clears. It becomes available when the payment and referral have been validated. Cancellation alone does not reverse commission on eligible revenue retained by us; a refund, chargeback or fraudulent transaction does. Partial refunds produce a proportionate adjustment.

If an affected commission has already been paid, we may offset that specific amount against future commissions, providing an explanation and an opportunity to dispute it. We may temporarily hold amounts reasonably linked to suspected fraud, a payment dispute or a verification issue, explaining the reason where lawful and reviewing the hold promptly. Unrelated, undisputed commission remains payable. A portal display or calculation error may be corrected with an explanation.

6. Payouts and tax information

Once your available balance reaches NZ$25, request payment through the affiliate portal where supported or by emailing support from your registered address. Requests and complete payment information received by the last day of a calendar month are paid by the 15th of the following month, or the next New Zealand business day. Lower balances carry forward without expiring solely through inactivity.

Choose bank transfer or SiliconKiwi account credit. Account credit is issued only at your request and cannot subsequently be withdrawn as cash, except where required by law. International transfers must use a mutually supported method. Any transfer fee or currency conversion that would reduce your payment must be disclosed and accepted before payment; otherwise the balance remains available while we agree a method. Commission balances and thresholds are in NZD. Foreign-currency sales use the NZD equivalent recorded in our billing system for the payment, with the conversion basis available on request.

You are responsible for your own tax reporting. Supply applicable tax details and any legally required invoice or payment documentation. Commission rates exclude GST payable on your affiliate services; where GST is legally chargeable, we will pay it in addition against appropriate documentation. Any withholding required by law will be identified in your payment record.

7. Responsible promotion

Make accurate, current claims about our products, prices and your experience. Clearly identify advertising and disclose your financial relationship prominently alongside affiliate content and before or next to referral links, for example: "Ad / affiliate link: I may earn a commission if you buy through this link." Comply with applicable advertising, privacy and electronic-marketing rules in the places where you promote.

  • No spam, unsolicited bulk messages, harvested contact lists, fake reviews, fabricated endorsements or misleading savings and performance claims.
  • No self-referrals, referrals through accounts you own or control, artificial orders, payment fraud, cookie stuffing, forced clicks, hidden redirects or replacing another affiliate's attribution.
  • No bidding on SiliconKiwi or BTIT brand names, misspellings or confusingly similar terms in paid search without written permission. Do not use misleading brand domains, social handles or advertisements that imply you are SiliconKiwi.
  • No publishing unauthorised discount codes, cashback, rebates or referral incentives without written agreement.
  • No promotion through unlawful, deceptive or rights-infringing content. Follow the rules of each community and advertising platform you use.

You remain responsible for promotional channels and contractors you control. Do not make commitments, offer support guarantees, collect payments or enter contracts on our behalf.

8. Brand materials and relationship

During participation, you may use our supplied or approved logos, banners and product copy solely to promote eligible SiliconKiwi services. This permission is non-exclusive and non-transferable. Do not materially alter branding or imply endorsement of your business. Update or remove inaccurate or withdrawn material promptly after notice. We retain our intellectual property; you retain yours. You act independently and are not our employee, agent, reseller or legal partner.

9. Privacy and confidentiality

We process affiliate identity, contact, payment, referral and commission information to administer this programme, make payments, prevent fraud and meet record-keeping obligations, as described in our Privacy Policy. Referral identifiers and relevant click, order and payment records may be linked across our website and billing systems for attribution. Access and correction requests can be sent to privacy@btit.nz.

Use only the minimum personal information needed for lawful promotion. Do not send us customer passwords, payment-card details or unnecessary personal data. We provide only referral information reasonably needed to explain commissions, not unrestricted customer details. Protect non-public information received through the programme, use it only to administer your participation, and report suspected unauthorised access promptly. Confidentiality does not prevent disclosures required by law or to professional advisers under confidentiality duties.

10. Changes to the programme

We may make reasonable changes for operational, commercial, security or legal reasons. Material changes, including commission reductions or changes to product eligibility, will be notified to your registered email at least 30 days before taking effect. Changes do not reduce commission already earned on payments received before the effective date. Unless we expressly agree otherwise, a revised rate applies to eligible payments received on or after that date, including renewals. You may leave before a change takes effect.

Urgent changes necessary to comply with law or address an immediate security or fraud issue may take effect sooner, with notice and an explanation as soon as reasonably possible. Editorial corrections that do not alter your rights may be published directly.

11. Suspension and termination

Either party may end participation on 30 days' written notice. We may suspend affected referrals or terminate immediately for substantiated fraud, unlawful conduct, a serious breach or where required by law. For a remediable breach that does not require immediate action, we will explain the issue and normally allow 14 days to correct it. You may ask us to review a suspension or termination.

Stop using referral links and our promotional materials when participation ends. No commission accrues on payments received after termination takes effect. Valid commission earned before that date remains payable after the normal validation period, even if below NZ$25, once necessary payment details are supplied. We will settle it in the next monthly payment cycle after validation and receipt of those details. Only amounts attributable to invalid transactions or established adjustments may be withheld or reversed; termination does not automatically forfeit legitimate earnings.

12. Responsibility and disputes

Each party is responsible for loss caused by its own breach, negligence or unlawful conduct, subject to applicable law. We do not guarantee traffic, conversion rates, earnings or uninterrupted tracking, but will take reasonable care in administering the programme and correcting verified errors. Nothing in these terms excludes rights, remedies or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Raise concerns with support@siliconkiwi.nz, including your affiliate ID and relevant dates or transaction references. Both parties will try in good faith to resolve disputes, normally allowing 20 business days before starting proceedings, without preventing urgent relief or access to a regulator or tribunal. New Zealand law governs this agreement and New Zealand courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory rights that apply elsewhere.

13. General terms and related policies

These terms and any expressly agreed written commission arrangement form the affiliate agreement. Our hosting Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy and other service policies govern hosting purchases separately; they do not expand commission eligibility. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains effective to the extent lawful. Neither party may transfer this agreement without the other's consent, not to be unreasonably withheld. Email notices use the contact addresses recorded for the programme.
